Who is Allah?

Allah is the Arabic word for God — the One, eternal, all-knowing Creator of everything that exists. Muslims believe Allah is unique, has no partners, was not born and does not die, and is nearest to every soul that turns to Him.

Core beliefs about Allah

• One (Tawhid) — worship is due to Allah alone.
• Merciful — every chapter of the Qur'an but one opens with "In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful."
• Just — no one is wronged, and every good deed is seen.
• Close — "We are closer to him than his jugular vein." (Qur'an 50:16)

Allah is the same God worshipped by the prophets Ibrahim (Abraham), Musa (Moses), ‘Isa (Jesus), and Muhammad ﷺ.
